I love the 30" GE ranges from the late 50s through 60s. The styling was sleek and the ranges still felt substantial. I'm not crazy about cooking on electric burners but if my old farmhouse wiring could support it I'd install one of these in a second.
Looking at high end stoves today (5k and up), the overall design is so uninspired compared to stoves from the 50/60s - what does the buyer get for the money?
I'd love to see stove experts open up vintage stoves and modern ones and compare the build quality. I bet new "high" end ranges don't compare to vintage ones. It would be nice to see if those expensive new stoves are as much of a rip-off as I suspect.
