That fridge is a total steal at $225, particularly in rare stainless.
It would be a perfect fit in the most modern of today's kitchens, and I'd wager that less enlightened guests would think it was a new model, what with the swing-out shelves and even a swing-out butter keeper!
If it were near me, I'd be all over it.

That is a nice one! Agree a lot of people might think it's straight off the showroom floor. Always liked that handle style; never looks dated.
I had no idea that GE was doing brushed chrome/SS during in the late 50's/early 60's. Hotpoint for sure, but GE? Wow!

I go back to early 1959 with GE Combinations in this style, when we got a "last year's model" (1958) on sale at Talman Furniture in Forest Park, GA.
In all the years since, this is only the second one of these I've ever seen, and the other was in a magazine way back in the day.

Is that a giant glacier covering half of the serpentine coil?
Is this not a "Frost Guard" model?
Even in stainless, if it's not a "Frost Guard" I'll pass.

Not trying to take the polish off Lawrence's thread...
Any of those trade-ins that had only partial freezing on the freezer or food compartment evaporators went directly to the scrap guy, regardless of the age or manufacturer. Of course this was way back then and not now where vintage has more value. GE used that kind of evaporator for many years and I saw lots of them that had that same problem. I'm not a refrigeration repair person but that looks like a leak to me...probably Freon 12. So many of those June Cleaver (+/- a few years) type models were such great looking boxes. It was always a shame to see them junked.

I don't think any of the 'Combination' models were frost-free. I'm thinking when GE introduced that technology they used a new name for those models, although they continued to market 'Combination' models (keeping the old technology).

Stellar price in my opinion. EVEN though there's possibly some cooling system / evaporator work required. These just don't crop up anymore. I'm tempted to drive down there and try for it but suspect it'll be gone. We're in the days when these things just are not to be easily found. 2 weeks ago I FINALLY scored a frost free '63 Frigidaire Custom Imperial version of this (alas....no brushed chrome finish). But turquoise is cool with me and it actually runs well with no system problems. I paid almost what they are asking for this GE. But I only had to drive 2 miles to get it

I have a similar ge combo model and its fully frost free. The coilcould be a indacation of a system with a low charge or internal blockage in the coil

Partially Frosted FF Evaporator
This is caused by a low Freon charge 90+% of the time. It is easy to add F-12 to these older GE Refs as they have a built in charging port. Bad part is that it has a Freon leak, sometimes you get lucky and it is really small and adding Freon will make it run for a few years, but in my experience you are usually not that lucky.
