Ah yes, Medallion. From the days electricity started at a nickel--period, no fees, line or meter charges--and went down the more you used. Hardly a feature today. Most apartments are all electric and they are bankbusters in winter when resistance heating comes on. My bill goes up by a factor of SIX.

How did u find this? What did u type in on the search bar on ebay, ive been trying to find catalogs like this for a long time. Does it have any more pics of washers and dryers if so could u post those that would be great!

Hi Doug - you just type in ge ads or whatever ads and it will come up with a series of articals. You than select what looks interesting.

My great aunt and uncle had the Coppertone Americana stove and fridge. I always thought they were so cool.

Orrin Thompson, the developer of the 50's/60's era "ticky tacky" suburb where I grew up put GE appliances in all the houses, including the gas furnaces and water heaters. As the houses were being built the purchasers could choose to have a freestanding range or either of the built-in options; a slide-in range or separate cooktop and oven. For some reason dishwashers were never a part of the package. Dishwashers didn't start appearing in the model homes until the 70's and by then I seem to recall that the builder had switched to a different brand of appliances. Seeing the dizzying array of options again in this brochure brings back a ton of pleasant memories!

That's funny, Henry because GE offered builders a dishwasher for some ridiculously low charge of $10 or so above the cost of the range just to have it in there. It was an upgrade for the builder, saved the cost of a 24" cabinet and was a sure replacement item for GE or someone else as the property aged with the space and connections there.
That is funny. I often wondered why dishwashers were never an option in all those houses. Eventually some people got portables. We got one when I was about 14 and then by the mid 70's some people remodeled the kitchens and installed built-ins. The only built-in dishwashers I remember from my early childhood were in other communities, usually in custom-built houses, not developments like ours, and they were almost all Kitchenaids. Oh how I wanted one of those, and now I finally have one, if I can get it up and running!

The lovebirds can afford the TOL washer and dryer in turquoise yet they opt for the tiniest little whitey stove GE has ever built? Or is that supposed to be the laundry stove?

I noticed that tiny range, too. Perhaps it was a secondary range to supplement the main kitchen. I was in a house last winter that had this set-up in the kitchen. Among eight elements, only two large-sized though.

Tiniest little white stove GE ever built
Well, I have an idea. This was the day before microwaves were starting to be put in the homes at less than gargentuan prices and sizes. So, that tiny little stove served its purpose of being able to boil water to make coffee or tea or some soup or something simple like that while madame was doing the laundry and ironing as weell as it was an auxialiary cooking station too.
