Finally! One of the many things I did on the long Canadian Thanksgiving weekend was to pick up the GE Clothes Conditioner Dryer I scored from Craigslist a couple of weeks ago and the 68 Simplicity wringer washer that was in storage for nearly 3 years now! At the moment, they are both temporarily residing in the new garage, but I fully intend to get that nifty dryer into regular service soon!

Dryer control panel

I still get a kick out of the 'Synethetic Suit De-Wrinkle' setting!
The paint is a little rough on one side of the dryer and there is the inevitable rusting of some edges from 50 years service in a basement laundry.
Should I consider refinishing the cabinet??

Inside the washer

I had forgotten the agitator was white - I am guessing this not the original one. All the wringers I ever owned had a black bakelite one!
It needs a good cleaning but otherwise it's in great shape - even the wringer rolls are smooth and soft!

That is the washer I got in a bidding war with 2 Mennonites.
Glad I didn't get it. It went for over $600.00.
It had the white agitator and black cap too.

Whoa! $600 for a wringer washer like this?? You'll never believe where this one came from - my father saved it from the curbside knowing that I was interested in vintage washers!

Good to know the white agitator was original, too.

Air freshener button - how's that work?

I am sure that someone posted something about the air freshener button and how it worked on the GE dryer - am I wrong in thinking it was some kind of a small spray bottle?

Great pics!!

Paul... what a beautiful wringer. I love any kind of washers but wringers are my very favorite. I would love to see this one in action. I also see your favorite memory machine was a 1955 whirlpool wringer. That is my dream machine to find!

Yes, actually this does look like a match - I'd love to score that washer myself!
Still waiting to hear something about the westy slant-fronts in Toronto... It's driving me crazy...
