I've noticed many of GE Electronics going back to 1980s, maybe 1970s or earlier, have a sticker on them with a 4 digit date code and quality control check boxes. Does anyone know how to interpret the date code?
I used to have a GE clock radio with the date code, probably 1980s.
Currently I have a GE Spacemaker undercabinet radio. It has an AM/FM/Weather/TV band radio with RDS, CD player, phone/MP3 holder with audio input cable and a countertop light, plus a magnetic remote control. Its date code says 5643 RA. Would that make it the 43rd week of 2006 possibly?
I also have two GE telphones. One is a cordless clock/radio phone with date code 3648RB and a corded speakerphone with a date code, 1835RB.
From those codes I'm guessing the second digit signifies the year, since I bought the speakerphone around 2008-09.
Does anyone know when GE stopped selling electronics? I know around 1987-88 they sold it to Thomson, because most have that name on the bottom. I've heard it was in 2007 possibly they stopped, but I have seen and have phones from later than that.
