I know the straight 8-vane ACTIVATOR 18 agitator is not popular, but I'll pay someone who'll take the time and make a full load, 'WASH-RINSE and SPIN' video for me. Mostly without the filter-flo pan to see the washing action.

activator 18

can you describe this agitator-i'm thinking my 1980 hotpoint might have
this agitator, does it have 4 main straight vanes in white plastic?
This hotpoint has a 1/2hp motor,so i'm thinking it must be 18 lb capacity
machine is all drained and stashed away for the winter,so i won't be able
to look at it right away...

hotpoint agitators

It might-i searched GE/HP agitators and i'm thinking mine might have the
"straight-4"agitator or the 2-in-1-i'll have to check that out!

searchalator

i just entered "straight-8"in the searchaltor and several threads came up
with this agitator-seems a lot of people don't really care for it's
performance LOL

I know, it's not popular. The high ramp (swirl) ACTIVATOR really is the best of the GE agitators. In fact, it's really capable of washing up to its 18 pound claim.
A 1972 GE washer is my next washer I hope to find and own.
FMOE, I remember the straight 8-vane agitator turning over some extra large to super large (extra water usage) loads I've washed.
Videos of the straight 8-vane will be reminders of what fun, (maybe little), I'll have with it.
I love its look.
Again since it's not popular with club, I'm willing to pay for the videos...Really.

One of the washers my Mom had was a GE with that same straight blade agitator shown in StrongEnough78 link.Presently I have another washer added to my collection-My favorite
WP-KN dual action BD machine died-transmission locked up solid. You try to start it-trips the breaker.I could not even turn the transmision pulley with a wrench on the mounting nut for the pulley.so the swap shop took it away-gone to washer heaven I am afraid-and replaced it with a Hotpoint washer that has the ramp bladed agitator-forgot how splashy these were-and the turnover-circulation is very good-I would like to get one of those straight bladed agitaotrs to try in it.Probably Mr. Dixon has one around in his junk box in the back of his shop.In the mantime ask Mr. Dixon if any more WP-KNs BD have come in-so far none. They are drying up around here-He has LOTS of DD WP-KN BLENDER washers though.I sort of remember the straight blade agitator in Moms machine was pretty splashy ,too.Hers also had the blue plastic lint dish.and further back in time-early 60's remember a blue GE washer in an AFB house that had a copper colored METAL lint pan.-and a straight blade agitator.

The straight 8 or 6 vane ACTIVATOR agitators could never have turnover circulation like the spiral ramps. The 'spiral swirl' ramp are designed to pull down and lift the loads up and over better. They are also capable of washing more clothes...much more.
The dual action agitators, best example, all circulate washloads better and wash more clothes than the straight vane agitators.
I don't compare them, the spiral vane will always out-do the straight vane...always.

Hey Martin,

cool video, too bad it isn't longer...actually the last GE I owned had the straight 4-vane Activator agitator but, I swapped it for the original straight 8-vane. I felt the large base vanes were too high or tall and might hinder usable tub space...you would not be able to wash big loads. Am I wrong?

between the two, I prefer the white one, I used the turquoise one once, and felt it did not move the clothes around as I had hoped, considering the larger tub and 8 vanes it offered......then along came the 4 vane, with higher base fins, and this handled loads with ease, especially greasy work clothes......

I have acquired several GE's, all with the swirl activators, one with a Hotpoint swirl with the handwash underneath, but only fits the small tub tranny in the large capacity machine.....I would like to find one like you dsplayed just to have one machine different
