Hi all, my FF agitator recently began slipping (the rubber coupling in the top of the agitator apparently is worn out so the metal cylinder slips inside the rubber), and I was wondering how far I should go in trying to fix it and how I should do it, or should I just replace it? There is one on ebay for 60 dollars.

Clarification

Are you stating that the rubber is worn and slipping inside the agitator?  Or, are the splines worn down on the agitator shaft causing the slippage?  Perhaps a photo of the fault might clear up the confusion.

if the splines on the transmission shaft are OK, then all you need is a new agitator coupling....

there are two styles, make sure you select the right one for your application....

as Malcolm mentioned, a pic would help clarify....

Yes, the splines are fine, sorry I don't have a photo at the moment, although the picture you linked to on ebay looks like mine. However, the metal cylinder slips and comes out of the rubber part. By the look of the picture, they are not supposed to be separate (?). Would it be okay to just glue it together? I'll try to get a photo tomorrow if needed. :)

Cost?

Honestly, for the cost of the part on eBay (< $11) I would opt for a replacement part rather than the glue approach!

glues, epoxy, cement, you name it....it won't hold, and even if it does, not for long....been there...once it breaks free, its a gonner...

but give it your best shot....don't say we didn't warn you.....

heres one for 5.00......you'll spend more time and effort otherwise....at least their still available...and a simple fix....

your choice.....

Got it. :) Convenience wins. Haha. Anyway, I gotta make sure it is fixed right for my baby nephew. He loves washing machines but this one is his favorite. Kindred spirits we are.
Thanks for the link!
