GE Filter Flo Dispensall

Decided to start a new thread on this machine since it's not a rusty tub repair anymore.

I decided to get started on some cleaning especially on the out tub and top where all of that old caulking was. I got the automatic bleach dispenser reservoir, lid, hinges and filter flume all nice and clean. Also cleaned old lint off of the clothes guard. The machine is actually cleaning up pretty nicely.

I was able to install the new outer tub gasket and it fits quite snug. Also swapped out the light bulb and got the lighted panel to glow again.

But here's the kicker...

I also got a replacement knob for the timer because the teeth had worn down and it was difficult to set the timer. Stupid me I took out the WRONG screws and the timer opened up and the contacts fell out. OMG!!! I am not a timer person. I finally got it back together but I think it's screwed. The washer filled with water but it died instantly when it finished filling. Granted this timer is pretty worn out as it is but I guess I'm going to have to either find a replacement or find a good timer repair person who can service it for me. BUMMER!!!

Congratulations on all the progress you have made. Thanks for taking the photos.  I had forgotten how expensive and substantial a "Dispenseall" looked.  Best of luck with the timer. Someone here will know what needs to be done.  I always liked avocado.

I know it's not as good as the spirl ramp Activator but, I LOVE the way the straight 8-vane Heavy Duty 18 Activator agitator looks...just love it!!!

Timer

Thanks for the encouragement folks! This machine, as are many, produce a love-hate relationship with me. Just makes me appreciate it that much more when it's all working and clean.

So I got the timer back together the way I think it should have gone. Maybe you experts out there can tell me if there is a certain way for the pins to be lined up over the cam. Looks to me like they are all roughly the same and just fit geometrically into the slots. I would greatly appreciate help on that.

I reinstalled the timer and the washer will fill and spin but when it was time to agitate it would short out. I did notice that one of the wires, the very first wire on the bottom left of terminal 4 was disconnected and dangling among its neighbors. I'm not sure if a short caused it to burn the clamp and knock it loose OR if it was loose and caused the short. Again, input from the experts please.

Otherwise, all I know to do is find a good timer repair place to send it to and have them rebuild it and test it. The knob is a new replacement but the plastic shield with the orange arrow behind the knob is also worn a bit so will need to replace that at some point too.

Sooo...still lots to do but will be cool when it's up and running again!

Not sure. It's the turquoise green eight vane agitator. Maybe a picture would help?

They improved this Activator about 7 years later by turning it into a Straight-4 Activator. Then sense came back to the GE engineers and they went ahead and created a large version of the redoubtable Spiral Ramped Activator. Unfortunately, each Activator needed its own Mini-basket. The pictures are from Members Scrubflex and Dishwashercrazy.
