GE filter-flo memories

Hellow everybody. I remember the GE filter-flo washer and matching dryer when I was a kid. I remember it would start the agitation cycle on gentle. Seconds later, it jumps to normal speed. It had 2 buttons: top one normal and bottom one gentle. it had the ramped activator and minibasket. I have used a laundry detergent called wash day powder. I remember when my mom would use the minibasket on small load and normal speed. When the rinse cycle started on normal, it would make a bang, bang, bang, bang noise accompanied by the downy ball floating inside. I was thinking, what's going on? I walked over to the GE and found it was on the rinse agitation with the minibasket with small selected. That was the best memory of the filter-flo, in my humble opinion. I was wondering if anybody can make a video on youtube of the filter-flo with the ramped activator and minibasket running on small and normal speed for the memories. Thanks.

I used to have videos uploaded on my youtube, but then I deleted my account....
Anyway there're plenty...
I think I have used the mini basket about 5 times since we have had it (1994), of which one just on purpose to make that video.....

From your detailed "description" , it's weird that you didn't include the little bang it would make seconds after it starts (tub turns and engage brake)....as well as the typical end of spin bang....

I had neighbors with a c.1969 model that continued agitating with the lid open. When did they start making those with lid switches that stopped agitating?

Any GE machine that I've seen you always had to have the lid closed for the machine to run. Perhaps their particular machine had a bypassed switch on it or one that was "rigged" so that it would run when the lid was open.

I have seen models up to the mid 90s agitate with the lid open, almost always Whirlpool or Whirlpool made.

My grandmother's 74 model GE in avacado green would work with the lid up as would my neighbor's
