GE FilterFlo transporting help

Many members have had a few problems when transporting GE FilterFlo's on their back or sides, main reason is that tub to trany seal popping off.....

and I have to transport one, on it's back, for delivery and I don't want this to possibly happen.....so I came up with this.....

went to Dollar Tree....and for a buck, got these things called "NooDles" water toys.......bought 2 of them......

So, I popped the top, and proceeded to push and place these between the inner and outter tub........used a full one, and half of another......had to use a broom handle to help push in place......but the end result is the tub is centered, and can't move during transport.....

What do you think?

That's a great idea Yogi, I've used towels stuffed into the outer tub before, but this is even more secure, I will definitely remember that trick.

Very good idea! The would work in between tub and cabinet machines as well (Maytag, Norge/Wards, etc.) and a couple of these cut into 2' lengths or so would also be easier to store and carry around to the next pick-up.

Yogi, you have a good idea there, but what I want to know is:  How many Speedos can you get into the Mini Basket?

Hmmmmmm, thats a good question, for many factors, you have to take into consideration, 2 guys, 7 days, extra-curicular activities, and just plain hotness.....I may need to move the water level up to small or medium for this one.....you mileage may vary!

So is the tub/outer tub/cabinet contact the real issue with transporting these machines on their side? I thought it also compromised the oil in the transmission?

I have never had it happen, but on ocassion, when transporting a GE FF on its side or back, that the tranny boot can "POP" out of place from being put under stress of the internals pulling too much in one direction, not really hurting anything, but that you must remove the agitator and inner tub to re-install the boot and clamp......

I have to deliver one in this position, and I don't want to take that chance, and I was considering many options to stabilize the suspension, I was thinking of a rolled up towel or blanket shoved in place to stabilize it, but came across these Noodles, and it hit me.....these are a snug fit as you get to the last part of it, but as I said the tub is tightly secured and centered......only minutes to install, and remove.......even the foam covers for pipes would work as well, as long as it can be collapsed and put in place and bounce back to make a tight fit, your good to go......

never came to my mind, but Gansky is right about cutting and using them for Maytags or any Tub/Cabinet type machines as well........I may have to get a few more and try out on a few other machines....

have you tough about using some styrofom blocks or some small woodblocks that could be put temporaly to keep the suspension from moving?
