Here's an issue that I need to address with my GE GFW655SSVWW FL washer. It's not exactly major; the machine is still going strong nearly a year later. The problem lies within the spin cycle.

Despite the washer being perfectly level with the vinyl floor in our upstairs laundry room, the thing vibrates like crazy during the final spin (luckily, it stays put and doesn't walk). This in turn makes the whole upstairs shake to a small degree. Anything placed atop the washer tends to get knocked onto the floor. The vibration is especially problematic for my dad, since his home office is located right next to the laundry room. When the washer spins at high speed, it shakes his whole desk, including the monitors. Plus, the washer is simply so loud while spinning, making it harder for him to hear anything besides the washer. My bedroom is at the other side of the upstairs, so I can feel my bed shaking, along with the wall decorations. And, because the cat litter box is in the laundry room, we have to keep the door ajar, which exacerbates the noise and vibration. This happens regardless of spin speed (medium, high or max). ONLY the final spin is in high speed; interim spins are slow. As much as we'd love to put the washer on a pedestal, it would likely make the vibration a lot worse.

I recently found out that the washer will detect if a load is unbalanced and causing the machine to vibrate excessively. If so, it will actually slow itself down to prevent damage from excessive vibration. When this happens, the "Spin" indicator will flash.

Anyway, I was looking for ways to try and cut down on this crazy jiggling, and came across some anti-vibration pads being sold on Amazon. However, installing them requires tilting the incredibly heavy washer to one side just to slide these pads under the feet. Neither my dad nor I are physically able to tilt the full 246 lbs. of the washer, so we'd have to find somebody strong in order to help us with these pads, should we buy them.

Has anybody had experience with these anti-vibration pads? If not, is there an alternative solution to cut down on vibration and house shaking? I wish that my family would've taken this into consideration before purchasing a front-load machine. But we love just how incredibly effective the wash action is compared to our prior Frigidaire TL. Despite poor wash performance, that old washer NEVER shook the upstairs during the final spin.
