GE getting back into commercial laundry

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

One has to remember priorities there though.

These machines won't run 24/7, probably more like a few cycles a day max.
Then these need to be efficient - as long as they work, you can say you have OPL possibilities, and you want that as cheaply as possible.
And then it's the up front investment. If you have to buy 8+ machines at once, doubling the price is a HUGE difference. So on a pure ROI basis, buying cheap but more often can make sense.

So these machines offer cheap means to offer OPL with warrantys for such applications - NOBODY in an OPL setting would do repairs themselves, so having just parts warrantys still cover much of the issue for that setting.

There are a bunch of similar offerings by ELux and Whirlpool over here. They are usually aimed at things like hair salons, small eating establishments or multi occupant dwellings like assisted living facilities.

Once you go actually pro, there isn't much of a price difference between all the brands (Alliance Laundry, Miele and ELux). So it's usually down to who can fit your needs better, which has better support options in your location and often who you are used to.

Eugene at Lorain Furniture & Appliance did a "first look" at the GE Commercial top-loader about a year ago. As has been stated by others in this thread, he wasn't enthusiastic about the build quality, but the machine was obviously supposed to compete with the Maytag commercial washer for the home market. However, he was fairly impressed with the cleaning & rinsing ability of the washer.

GE commercial not convinced

I'm still not convinced that these are "commercial" units. I can hear the machine bashing itself apart like somebody's bashing away at the drum set, not playing it. Bash bash bash bash bash!!!! That is obnoxious!

GE commercial laundry

My mother-in-law just moved into senior housing where they have laundry rooms where there are two GE commercial washers and two commercial dryers in each laundry room, they’ve been there for about seven years. They do not require coinage. They’re just available to use by the residences. it’s a huge place and they seem to be running all the time as far as I can tell they’re all still going just fine after seven years.

I agree Speed Queen’s would probably be more rugged however they use more energy and that’s a big factor in a place like this the GEs spin much drier and use less electricity than the commercial Speed Queen.
