I started using dryer sheets because we can't use fabric softener in the condo complex I live in (Septic System). One got stuck between the drum and the felt seal up front. I was able to pull it out. But now there is this metallic sound like something scraping, almost like a squeal. Tried to find repair manual online but there is not one to be found. The unit is only 1 year old, just out of warranty 1 month. From what I've seen on youtube it may only get worse. Any thoughts on this?

It needs
new nylon sliders on the front bulkead for sure. The drum is scraping into it. Possibly also new rear drum rollers, and an idler. A new bulkhead with sliders is about $50 since you have to remove it anyway.

Thank you for the reply.I don't see any repair manual on how to disassemble this thing. Is this something I can do while it is stacked on the matching washer? I was thinking the top cover comes off first and then the control panel (on the front) and finally the front comes off just like the larger GE dryers.

Oh,
not sure Paul. There are Youtube tutorials on GE and most dryers, etc. The front panel has to be removed in order to remove the bulkhead. If the legs are attached to the stack bracket, it may be able to stay there while being serviced.

thank you for the information. I see John's posts. I was surprised he didn't have anything to add to this thread. He is an expert and would appreciate his input. Funny thing the noise went away when I did a couple of loads yesterday. I do have a service call in but may cancel it if the noise stays gone next load.
GE Compact 24" Dryer
We have sold a number of these but have little service experience yet with this model, similar GE 24" dryers like this were forced from Samsung and do not hold up especially well, I assume that this one is Chinese built as well.
These are cute and are good for smaller spaces and small families, Service accessibility is poor but parts prices are on the low side.

You summed it up well. I bought these because I'm in an apartment condo and space is limited. I took pictures in case there is any curiosity. They wash and dry well for their size. They are built in China (unfortunately I believe all the compact front loaders may be built elsewhere). I needed something where the washer plugged into the dryer. There was this or Bosch. Probably should have gone with Bosch but I didn't. The washer detergent dispenser is drying in the bathroom. I've always pulled the dispensers when I'm done.
