GE high-low-ranges

I know several people here have them and I'm considering getting one for our new place in Keokuk, IA. Could one of you measure the distance from the burners to the underside of the upper oven for me? I want to make sure there's enough clearance for my favorite stockpot. I don't want to tie up the front big burner all the time!

What you are asking is a great question, that is one of the main reason two oven, over and under stoves, fell out of favor. the height between the cooktop and the upper oven restricts what kind of pot can be placed on the rear burners.

My Mom's friend has an older gas range that has an eye level oven on top and a regular oven on the bottom. I never thought of it before, but I can see that it would be really tight for taller pans on the cooktop.

When I first saw High/low range. My brother lived in a rental that had a GE split level range. the two back burners were about three inches higher than the front two burners. Sis in law hated it.

One Workaround:

I had a GE Americana for a while in a rental. It was Harvest Gold, and therefore not a keeper in my eyes, but I enjoyed having two ovens in such a compact footprint. I also admired the ingeniousness of the removable upper oven liners that could go in the lower P*7 oven.

I never had a problem with the back burner height, but then I have vintage aluminum-clad Farberware, which is usually wider than it is tall. Even the big twelve-quart saucepot is fairly squat.

On those very rate occasions when a big 20-quart stockpot was needed, having to use a front burner was not that big a deal.

Anyway, Farberware will solve the problem.
