GE Mobile Maid bowtie impeller

My dream dishwasher. Things in my life changed big time . I know want to unload my small collection for a dream Mobile Maid. Will trade 5 dishwashers for a Mobile Mail in good condition... Kick myself in the ass many times for not going for what I wanted.. Any pic's , stories, info on these great dishwashers would be appreciated. Mike

of the inside of mine. got it in toledo ohio 2 years ago for 50 bucks. runs great and doesn't leak a drop!

racks are white so i was told these are replacement racks or maybe i got one of the later model bowtie machines and the white racks are original equipment. not sure which is true here.

Mike, are you looking to make this machine a daily driver or just regretted that you did not have one in your collection?

I would imagine that the newer design with the usual washarm and power tower would have done a better job of washing. Never having had either one, I would have to rely on what the members here have thought about the cleaning abilities of each type of machine.

I am looking for an other dailey driver. Looking to downsize the house and can only keep dailey drivers. Nice pic's your hose connections do not have the chrome cover cap ?

on mine. nor is there a chrome cover cap.

personally i would not use mine as a daily driver as parts are non existent, at least i have not found any. mine doesn't leak and i only run it about once a month for a novelty, don't want to wear out that pump seal. plus it being an impeller machine it doesn't clean nearly as well as a good kitchanaid or even frigidaire dishmobile would.

i use a kitchanaid top loader 15 series as my daily machine now, along with a frigidaire front load dishmobile. was using a kdc17a stainless tub model but melted the pump a few months ago and have not had the interest in replacing that pump yet. maybe next year!

Good taste in dishwashers you have

Mike, send me your email address. There was a guy out in LA that had a nice SP-40V (a Mobile Maid portable) in what looked like very good condition. He had it up on eBay for two unsuccessful auctions and then it disappeared. If he didn't trash it, he may be willing to sell it to you and cooperate with the shipping chazerei. I kept the information somewhere and will try to dig it up. The only reason I didn't buy it was that he wanted 100 cash for it and then it would have cost me about 300 to have it shipped to me. I would spend that easily for an SP-50, or 51 (with Rinse-Glo dispenser, Cup Racks and a Butcher-Block top {on the 51}), but it did have its OE racks, chrome cap and the Power Shower. Here's a picture of it:

Dear Steve T:
The impeller machines not only held more in the lower rack than the wash arm GEs, they completely drained after each phase of the cycle and terminated the end of each drain by a 3-5 second purge which flushed out the pump chamber. Compare that to a GE wash arm machine which held a quart of water in the pump AFTER each drain and redeposited food. We had the bow tie machines for 7 years before we moved and had the 15 series in the new house. It held a lot of stuff, but I don't think it actually washed or dried better than the GEs although it was less prone to sending small items flying.

I can't vouch for their cleaning ability because me Mum handwashed every item before loading, but the thing was fast, relatively quiet especially when compared to later GE front loaders, and when that thing was finished, the dishes were so steamy hot you couldn't touch them for several minutes so it sure sanitized everything without having a special cycle for it. Capacity was huge; definitely bigger than front loaders until the Maytags showed up at the party.
