A few weeks back I went to deliver a set of 1955 Kenmores to John (Combo52) and before I left to go back home he stated that I couldn't leave with an empty trailer so he loaded this GE Mobile Maid onboard for the ride home. It hadn't been used in years and someone had cut the cord off and removed the screws from the inlet cover on the inside of the machine. Today I had a few extra hours so I put a new cord on the machine and bought some new stainless steel screws and nuts to secure the inlet cover back into place. I found that the machine fired right up but that the inlet valve refused to open (possibly the original cause of death). I removed the inlet valve and completely disassembled it and cleaned out all the mineral deposits and reassembled it and found that it worked great. Machine cycles as it should and everything seems to run well. I'm having an issue with water dripping from where the solenoid meets the inlet valve body so I will have to take that back apart and see what I can do to stop that leak but other then that it seems to not leak and works well. I have a little work to do on the outside to clean up some minor rust and it should be good to go.

Nice MobileMaid! Can't wait to see more pictures as you have them!!

If you are interested, I have the manual for this machine. Just send me an email and I'd be happy to forward it to you.
