Even for a GE top loader fanatic like me

 they're dreaming, fever dreaming.

Maybe if it had the woodblock top, the Silver Shower, ANYTHING but the Clown-shoe power module, and was delivered filled with Hyacinth's complete set of Royal Doulton with the hand-painted periwinkles...

Now, if it were the early model of a Maytag WP-600 in good condition, I might pay the price.

Trust me, as one who owns a GE Mobile Maid DW no one is putting fine Royal Doulton (hand painted periwinkle or no) into these dishwashers. Mine has ruined nearly every bit of merely nice every day china and glassware with etching, scratching and marring. Things that were ages old and survived Kenmore (Frigidaire) dishwasher for years were ruined in space of few washings in MM.

Haven't bothered with the thing in ages now, it sits waiting to be moved on. As cannot find any interest in purchasing whole soon as find time am going to strip it down for racks and other parts can get off easily, then carcass is going to curb on recycling day. Need the space for other appliances and just don't see oneself ever using the MM again.

Sounds like a good pots and pans dishwasher though.

My Mother, who was no fan of automatic dishwashers, especially ones with lots of different cycles, eventually DEIGNED to wash her very expensive English Bone China (that had gold over-glaze piping) in our wonderful 1962 GE SU-70. It was the only time she'd ever use one of the three other cycle selections, FINE CHINA & CRYSTAL, instead of NORMAL SOIL/MIXED LOAD. 65 years later, I still have that set and it's in perfect condition. Now these models didn't have the "clown shoe" or the same racking configuration, but I've learned that the CHINA cycle shortened cycle time and heated dry time and, more importantly, softened the wash action by limiting the amount of water used thus "aerating" the spray.

This is back when GE wasn't run only by the bean-counters, Jack-Ass Welch and the Company cared to provide their customers with value. Buttons meant something back then. BTW, the UTENSILS/POTS & PANS and the little pink HEAVY SOIL/MIXED LOAD buttons meant something as well... they weren't appliance placebos:

The UTENSILS cycle was the prehistoric equivalent of the more recent ENERGY SAVER option where the heater was deactivated for the cycle. If I'm ever lucky enough to find this model again, this is the cycle I will likely use all the time because these days there are so many plastic things I use and wash it might be necessary because those Calrod units get red hot during the dry cycles.

The HEAVY cycle provided the full amount of water for a vigorous spray and extended wash time. 5-31-2005-07-28-55--FilterFlo.jpg

GE Mobile Maids had no soil separator (food filter) and tended to re-deposit food particles. GE tried to get around the issue by using lots of water changes. However, they made great garage utility washers.
