Just to introduce myself, I have an appliance repair business in the Denver area, and this issue should be much simpler than it is turning out to be: Model ZDT985SPN3SS has two door springs connected to the frame and that meet up at a metal bracket which has a cable to the door hinges. The cable isn't under much tension, and at my first visit one of the springs had come off and was sitting on the floor. It wasn't broken though. I replaced the springs (not exactly necessary though) and one came off again. If the cable and springs were under a slight bit more tension, the springs would be more prone to staying in place. I am curious if anyone has seen something like this before, what the fix is. Should I replace the cables? By the way, the cables are metal, not the white string type.
In SmartHQ, there was a tech manual that described three different springs that can be mixed and matched to give the right amount of tension to the door. I just replaced with the same that were already present.
