Cotton/sturdy cycles

I have noticed that GE has labeled the cotton/sturdy cycles dark colors, normal/light colors and whites. What are the differences between the 3 cycles? What are the agitation arcs and rpm's spin speed of the dark colors on the default settings?

Which cycle uses the most water? I know GE's new FL washers seem to get good reviews......but I dunno, I haven't had a GE appliance in SO LONG....Didn't they want to get out of the appliance biz at some point, but didn't? Or are they still trying to?
