Let's just say that I have a "friend" who has a GE late 1950s 40" range that has a sense-temp burner that is "less than 'sensi'", if you know what I mean. In other words, in a recent experiment, we placed a pot of water on the 'sense-temp' burner and set it at 1. It boiled vigorously for about 30 minutes before we shut it off. I'm guessing it no longer works properly :) This particular range has a capillary tube that runs from the sensing element to the switch.

What is the part number of the replacement part that would convert this burner to an "infinite heat" burner. This is for a 1957 40" Liberator.

Greg? I'm trying to fix this for Don :)

It's also possible that we are looking for an oven thermostat for this range. It seems that when testing for voltage across the clock motor terminals on this range if one accidentally manages to create a direct short to the capillary tube to the small oven that there are sparks, fireworks, a damaged voltage meter AND a melted copper capillary tube to the small oven that is leaking an oily substance... :(
