Awhile back I was looking at ranges at the appliance store. I noticed there aren't many coil ranges on the market. I looked at Whirlpool, Frigidaire and GE. To me the GE seemed the best because I noticed the coil spacing was closer and it has the Genuine Calrod elements still. Also the GE door felt heavier than the others to me.

Does anyone have a range with Chef Connect? I noticed there are some GE Profile ranges and on the control panel it says "Chef Connect On/Off" "Hold to Pair".

I don't know about the Chef Connect, but I do have a GE coil top range that I purchased about 14 mo. ago and I love it. We had a similar GE coil top before and were very pleased with it too. The burners are very fast and they also cool down quickly too so it is really easy to regulate the temp. The oven is even heating and the thermostat was right on the money from day one and required no tweaking. This range is very basic, no self clean oven, but I really don't miss that anyway. The self cleaning ovens smoke up the house so I would have to use the self clean feature only when it was warm enough to open all the windows. And if I don't let it get too dirty it really only takes about 30 mins of concentrated effort to clean it, I can handle that. The one feature that I do miss though is a timed bake and delay start for the oven.

Isn't that the truth John?

I guess I'm just older school. I learned to read a map at age 10, still have a good sense of direction, and would rather know what roads I need to take before consulting a gps. AAA used to give trip assist guides for members with construction zones in red, and today every dot website does.
Once, my gps told me to detour to avoid an accident which had cleared away before I even got close. My trip took an extra half hour.
I sure don't need my oven smart connected to an app, nor my house lights, or any other appliances or faucet's, yes they have those too now.
I'm the ruler of the roost, not my computer or phone.
You can have all the electronic redundancy in the world, but if a water hose ruptures, unless the app has flood sensors connected, they don't do any good in that case. I shut off all supply lines when I go away. next thing, those will have robotic motors as well so your smart app. can shut those off remotely.
Then the app. support will sell us maintainance contracts to keep all the motors and solenoids working.
I digress to the Buick commercial where the window in the loft is left open and pigeons fill the couples apartment.
