set it and forget it

I never did think that was a good slogan.

"Honey, what's for dinner?"

"I forgot"

"Oh, you're cooking on the rotisserie?"

"I don't remember."

Set It and Forget It

Jasonl You are so right! It is a crappy slogan, given the dangers of doing that with cooking appliances. It also smacks of short term memory loss syndrome, which seems to be creeping up on me as I get older. I can relate every step of a complete wash cycle in a 1-18, and half the time can't remember where I set my keys down.

Do not think the slogan is that bad, nor the appliance "ad men" who dreamed it up were advocating "forgetting" one had started the appliance. Rather, IMHO the fact that the "automatic" age had arrived and Mrs. Average American housewife no longer had to stand over a stove, washing machine or any other applinace and manually fiddle with them at certian times to get the job done.

Some "set and forget it" appliances that must truly have lived up to their slogans:

Fully automatic washing machines that laundered, changed water, spun dry, rinsed and so on with no input from Madame other than setting cycles/water temp. No more wringers, no more changing of water...

Launderess

Rule #1: Facilitate your own life.....

and half the time can't remember where I set my keys down.

IIMHO we all have the same issues as we "mature".
I have allocated a top drawer in my bureau for the contents of my pocket and my watch/ring.

2-story home? Allocate a certain bowl, vase that is near the door.

V-AY-Z= <$350
V-AH-Z= $350 and up.

"I would love to see rotisseries in full-sized ovens again! "

My 70's era GE wall oven (in Harvest Gold) has internal connections for a rotisserie and a temperature probe. But the parts are missing. I suppose I could call GE and see if they can provide the accessories, although I don't think I'd make much use of either.

I also don't know if the oven actually has the rotisserie motor installed behind the oven wall. But the oven works great for cooking small batches of cookies, pizzas, etc. It's a small 27" (outside dimension) wide unit, so it's pretty energy efficient.

who?

It could be Samantha Stevens, but she owned a Flair, not an Imperial.

It could be June Clever, but I don't think hers was black.

Mary Richards?

Patty Duke?

Venus Wilder?

Carol Brady?

Harriet Nelson?

Who who who?
