I was at an estate sale and I found this old under the counter tape player made by GE. The date code was not on it but I am still curious of the year it was manufactured. Can anyone help me? The serial number is 00097549.

Thanks

My guess would be mid - late 1980s. The ones in the 90s were white. They had quite a few different models through the years. Some were just AM/FM radio, some with cassette, some had CD players. There were versions with wireless intercom stations that you could put in different rooms. Most of these units had a timed outlet for plugging in a coffee maker for example, as well as a built in light.

Some of the very last models of these had a weather radio band as well. I even saw one that had a remote sensor unit so it could display the weather conditions outside, and it had an input jack for an iPod on it. Had RDS (radio data info display) as well.
