That's a cool-looking vent hood, with the glass panel. I'm guessing it is lit from behind? Alas, the glass appears to be cracked.

This Set....

....Needs in-person inspection before agreeing to buy. I see or sense several issues:

1) Since it's likely brushed chrome, an inspection for rust would be helpful.

2) There is an area to the left of the left rear burner that looks as if it might be wear-through of the chrome. It could also just be come sort of staining from cooking grease, etc.

3) That hood is not clean, and that often means a gunked-up, inoperative fan. The cracked glass is not going to be fun to fix, though a glass house could fix you up with frosted glass. You'd just have to do without the "GE" logo.

4) The gunk on the hood could also be affecting the operation of the pushbuttons. At the least, they'll be huge fun (sarcasm) to clean.

nice looking

We had that wall oven in coppertone from 1966. GE offered all but the little 23" cooktop with rotary controls in stainless steel. Even the two unit one with the remote mounted switch panel was stainless steel so this set, especially since the cooktop is upper end with the hood-mounted controls could very well be stainless, but checking for rust is prudent in any case.

GE SS ? Cooktop-Hood and Wall-Oven

This is the MOL hood, I have the TOL one in our W Va home with the neater large buttons and the Sence-a-temp control for the RF three size element. The GE SS look hoods are actually just steel and painted silver. The glass panel is not back lit, some of the TOL hoods had a florescent work light while the others just had an incandescent light.

The CT itself is Brushed Chrome, but it is very durable and well made, these were very good CTs and I have never seen the buttons get greasy way up on the front of the hood, now the buttons that were directly on the CTs were another matter, LOL.

The house across the street from me has that GE oven and cooktop. The former residents always said the finish is Brushed Chrome. The difference in theirs is that the controls are on a wall panel to the right, and the hood is a NuTone instead of GE. They were installed in '65 or '66.
