Hey guys, it's been a super long time since I posted, but I still creep around!
I have a 1946 GE Stratoliner electric range that I use every day....it's the only one I have. Yesterday I tried to preheat the oven and the dial lit up all purty but NO HEAT. *gasp*
The broiler in it works, but no oven heat. My question would be...Can any of you savvy fellas or gals tell me what part could keep it from heating? My husband thinks thermostat, possibly heating element itself, but not sure.
I won't cry a lot if I can't get original replacement parts, I know that would just be silly to expect. BUT I do need to find out what part needs a fixin' and go from there. I know I'm super long winded, and I apologize, I just needs my oven to come back from the dead in a jiffy. I would appreciate any advice! Thanks in advance,
Chris(tie)

Unplug it, take the back off, and look for a burned wire. Probably where the wire attaches to the bake element, that's the most common place to look for trouble.

Usually if the element goes bad, there will be a burned spot on it, or it will have a break in it.

thanks for helping

Thank you, KennyGF, for your advice. My husband took the back off, tested all the connections and the wires that were connected to the ceramic block where the element plugs in were loose. Nothing burnt, just loose. Then he found an issue with the wiring behind the clock/timer that is now causing the stove light to act a little wonky(it's my word for something askew!) and it's in cahoots with the oven not heating up. They are all connected and would take too long for me to remember how he explained it to me, but it made sense yesterday! Now he knows what needs done to fix it!! Hoozah...the day is saved!
