Hey Everyone, I am looking for a GE timer for my little portable washer, and a lid switch

been looking for at least part numbers

Link below. Say they have the timer and switch but I would call to verify
that they really do have it. Interweb info is not always accurate.

Thanks Bill,
I sent them an email, I could drive up and pick up the parts if they have them in stock, it would be amazing to get this little machine running, I got it from an appliance dealer, he had it on the showroom for years then in the back room til he closed his store.. Its never been run, and I cant seem to get it to do anything..

Is there a way to bypass the lid switch so I can make it run, ?

The switch is on the left. you should be able to jumper the red and
orange wires to bypass the lid switch.
On my machine it will still fill with the lid open but not spin.
This switch is also the out-of-balance cut-off. If you reach in the back
just above the tub you can feel the lever hanging down attached to the switch
mechanism. Check it's operation to make sure it isn't stuck or jacked-up in
some way.
The switch is on the left. you should be able to jumper the red and

Mine looks exactly like yours, im not sure how to jump wires, I have never done anything like it before. My machine wont make any noise, hum or anything, so I think its the timer, once I get the new timer installed I am hoping it will do something, if not, it might be off the crusher...

Jumpering is just connecting the two wires on the micro switch together
after you've unplugged them with another piece of wire. In this case, if
those two connectors didn't have a plastic sleeve over them you could probably just slide them together. Doesn't make a difference which terminal they're connected to on the switch if you don't remember after you've unplugged them.
In any case, I would check all of the plug connectors and wire nuts, there are several, to make sure it's not a loose or mis-connected wire. The two big
plugs on the timer have tabs you squeeze to remove and connect them.
There are several behind the back lower panel, too, on the side where the
power cord enters. Mine were taped, you can take the tape off to separate
them and then re-tape or put some twist ties on them.

Hey Bill,
I jumped the lid switch, checked all the wires all over the machine and still nothing, Hoping the new timer will help with whatever is going on with it, It doenst even hum or make any noise when I plug it in, I even tried different plugs around my house.. Ugh..

I am following you on here,Chris and I don't like what you relating to us. Of course, if there was a way for you to check that power is getting thru that line cord you would solve more of the mystery. So many times the cord looks great but it doesn't work from one end to the other. I am sorry I didn't get over there this weekend!But maybe soon.

This is a puzzler.
Steve would be a big help since he's closer to you than I am
and I'm sure he would have a meter to check continuity and
voltage. I'm wondering the same as he is, is power getting
to the timer.
The three connectors behind the timer would be a good check point.
120V between the black and white wires would indicate the line cord
is ok.

A huge thank you to Bill for all your help, I just did installed the new timer and she fired right up, just did its maiden wash, it has a small drip from the Button saver in the back but other than that, she runs amazing, Thanks again for all your knowledge and help...

YAY it runs, good job, these were always fun little washers and even though they were not great at washing larger loads they make good extractors if you have any other vintage machines where you need to re-spin the clothing before drying.

Glad that it's washing away!
It is a fun machine to use. I use mine when I have a small amount
to wash, especially whites. I have the matching dryer but don't use it very
often, it only vents indoors.

Worth the wait!
Congrats, Chris.
Great to see a vintage machine come back to life. I am not a big fan of impeller type washers but if it does a good job of "turning over" the clothes without tieing everything in a knot, I would use it.You will have to let us know how it does with a real life load in the future and of course, a video would be cool too.
