GE wall refrigerator
These were really neat appliances. GE made them for just over five years 1955 through 60, unfortunately was an era where GE compressors would wear out prematurely and all their refrigerators and freezers and these were no exception, most wall refrigerators that are still working, of course have had a new compressor put in them and then they can go on working.
Thanks for sharing James. I have a customer in Georgetown that still has a pink one on their wall, which is used as wall cabinets it gave up working many years ago. You don't see many of these anymore.
I had another customer that had a sunny yellow one that had been installed in a custom house in 1960 GE had already stopped making them and they couldn't get a yellow one so they had to buy a pink one and have it painted yellow.
The compressor was replaced sometime in the Early 70s and then they had problems with it again so they bought a brand new compressor and complete evaporator system for it last year. I sold both of those components to a guy in Racine, Wisconsin. Who's restoring one of these refrigerators for his cool mid-century house hopefully you'll post pictures sometime when it gets done.
Last week while cleaning out in the state, I found a box full of parts for these wall refrigerators. It's the shelves and ice trays, etc. if anybody needs some interior parts, let me know.
