Are the cabinets all metal

or is the lower darker part a different material - meaning...it looks like a vinyl padding over the lower fourth of the door?

Phil, there was a contrasting inset panel on the lower part of the door.  It was usually a textured aluminum, but it looks like this one had a custom insert of something that looks like formica.

That makes more sense, but it looks a little like a soft pillow...which makes no sense. It sure does look custom, thanks Paul.
