Unit is apx 5 years old

Unit turns on, but the fan does not start. When I power on, the fan rattles quick the stops, power stays on, but no rotation in the fan. I tried to manually push the fan to see if it may be a capacitor issue, but that did not help.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Could literally be something has fallen or crawled into the fan.

I had this problem 2 months ago with a GE AC that is only 2 years old. It turned on and the compressor was running but the fan was buzzing.

I went outside and manually turned the fan and looked inside. I could see the head of a lizard or frog, bless the poor thing. Turning the fan backwards loosened it and it ran but was clicking as it ran into the carcass.

I didn't want to have to dismount and remove the cover to remove the body so I took the garden hose and sprayed it into the a/c (with the unit unplugged) to try and move the carcass out of the fans way. It did and the AC works fine. Outside it smelled for a couple of weeks as the body decomposed but now it's fine.

The problem is the rather large holes on the sides and top where not only can things crawl into, but leaves and sticks can fall into or get sucked in and pushed into the heat exchanger. If you have trees or bushes near your AC that could be an issue.
