I like these stoves, but not for a primary oven...

Someone will laugh, but the dials on the left remind me of an old airplane;the other set to the right reminiscent of a car radio. I like the color and the metal treatment.

Now, how do these function as ovens - any good? I'm sure they work but a vintage Tappan or Caloric(?) a in the same or slightly later (60's) period would seem a better idea..or a P7 GE. I like the clean lines of these ovens, which may be argued as overly spartan.

Does anyone really have this oven now and use it daily...and how do you like or not like it and why?

I have the 1962 model of this oven and match range. The temp is spot on every time. It cooks everything with no problem and Thanksgiving turkey comes out great. Only thing I am missing is the rotisserie skewer.

Why would the Caloric or Tappan be any better? This oven was far larger than the Tappans of the same period and even larger than the builtin GEs of the later 60s. This oven uses the same shelves as the master oven in GE ranges of the mid 50s when they had the wider companion oven. Each rack with hold two Bundt pans and the oven will bake the cakes evenly.

Hey Tom - I have to admit, I placed that question wrong completely - I was asking, but didn't express it that way.

Thanks for your input - always enjoy reading your comments, as well.

We have that oven, minus the meat thermometer and in pink. It works great, with the exception of getting to the right temperature. The thermostat is going bad on it. I have a new one to replace it with, but just haven't gotten around to replacing it.

A nice oven; like the one my mom's cousin Marie had in her circa '60 home. The cooktop, hood, fridge and dishwasher also in Woodtone Brown. I like the slightly later version with the larger window a little better.

Tomturbomatic mentions that the oven was larger than the late 60's models. Does this apply only to the self-cleaning versions, or did they change the oven cavity on the standard-clean models also?
