Looking for a upper burner/heating element for a GM/Fridgedair French Door oven. The house was built in 55'so I guess that's the year of the oven. Where do I get one from? Or is there anyone who restores these? I live in Northeast Indiana. Who is most knowledgeable on these ovens?

It's there if you are talking about the broiler element. If it is not working, check to see if there is a break in the wire, like maybe at the center front where it looks a little low. These are restrung by putting a new wire through the porcelain insulators and screwing it to the terminal blades in the back. If the terminal blades are not making good contact with the clips in the back of the oven, the clips have to be removed from the porcelain terminal block and replaced.

Does your oven have a receptacle about halfway up the back and two thermostats on the control panel? If so, it is what Frigidaire called a Wonder Oven that could function as two separate ovens by removing the tray and bake element at the bottom of the oven and plugging it into the receptacle half way up. There is a second bake element under the tray that allows the lower oven to be used for baking or roasting at a different temperature while baking or broiling could be done in the upper oven. The kicker is that there is a part that is probably missing which is the little panel that hangs from the tray and serves as a door for the lower oven when the upper oven is used as a broiler.

Let us know what you are dealing with and we can help you.

I have one of these ovens and it bakes and broils beautifully. It's neat the way the heat shield pops up and out to shield the control panel from the heat when the doors are opened.

After reading Tomturbomatic's replay to my post,I would say it's not a Wonder Oven model. With the pictures that I added, can you tell me if the terminal blades in the back are correct in length? The one with a hole, that looks like it was drilled, looks to be shorter than the one to the left of it. Are those 2 in the middle supposed to be the same length? If so where do I get replacement terminals or do I fabricate some and what material should be used?

Thanks Ken
