Does anyone here in the states use German Persil Powder, and if so where do you get it from. Amazon has a few choices but seeing if there are another suppliers I might not know about.

The only source I know about here in the lower New England area is Amazon. Some of the independent appliance stores that sold Miele laundry equipment once carried some of the German Persil powder and gel/liquid but no longer.

I use German Persil liquid. There's a "European" grocery/provisions store near me in NJ (it's no bigger than a 7-Eleven) that carries both the powder and liquid, along with Lenor, Ariel, etcetera. I haven't purchased the powder, as it's in a bag (we prefer our powder in a box, with a measuring scoop). But the liquid, as mentioned, is readily available.

Am working way through stash of Persil powder so cannot help about recent purchases.

That being said Amazon likely is your best choice if local shops are lacking.

There are also various other online places as well.

For the UK version of Persil (made by Unilever): https://www.britsuperstore.com/usa/...care/laundry/persil.html?laundry_section=1840

Amazon has a bewildering and vast array of Persil on offer at times. It is important to carefully chose who is selling (Amazon or third party) and what one is getting.

I Googled Persil Universal Powder and got lots of hits, but Amazon has the lowest price for 100 wash powder for $59.90 with Free Prime delivery, about half the price of WalMart. Check for yourself to see if there is a place closer to you. I will be switching to this for more washing since Costco has changed from stocking the 180 load box of TIDE to the 140 load box because it has more bleach in it.

It has been getting harder to find the larger boxes of the powder German Persil (more than 27 loads) over the past year or so, and what is available is a lot more expensive than in earlier years. The European liquid versions, also a little more pricey now, seem to be what vendors are favoring in the local specialty stores here.

In addition to listings on Amazon, I have had some success with this online vendor in finding Persil powder, Euro Food Mart:

German Persil Liquid or Gel

Thing is unless seller offers free shipping and a good price one is paying (often dear) to move product that is largely water. More concentrated gel format may be a better deal, but still.

IIRC one version of Tide (or something made by P&G) has an advertisement touting how PODS area better value because with liquid detergents one is paying for mostly water.

But with pods, they dictate how much product you are using. I like the powder which is about as concentrated as detergent comes and with prime, the delivery is included. Of course, at the beginning of COVID, stupid tariffs were put on products from Europe which almost doubled the prices.

I also..

use German Persil universal mega-perls and color mega-perls with awesome results. On Amazon There are some size choices, prices I would pay for some.
I too, like some, like to change things up with different detergents from time to time. I'll continue to buy from amazon for German Persil powder detergents when I need them.

Powder in box versus powder in bag.

You might find that some of the bagged powders are more concentrated than the 'big box' versions (which tend to use fillers to make the powder flow more readily).

The German consumer organisations said that the likes of Ariel (sold in Germany) was more concentrated/better performing in the bag, than the cardboard box variant.

I can't be sure, but I think I read that some of the German supermarkets (Lidl and Aldi) had the same concentrated formulation in the box as well as the bag.

You sometimes have to be very specific in what you buy.

The powders in bags were often labelled "compact" powders.
Those were the better, more concentrated versions.

The HUGE boxes often had fillers and lesser ingredients.

Easiest way to tell was dosing requirements.
At least here in Germany, any detergent has to have standardised dosing measures given for different soils and water hardness for a specified load size.

Comparing the values in that typical 3x3 grid often shows that huge box asks for somewhat more for the same situation.

Of course, megaperls were very easy to tell apart from the powder.

Never saw megaperls in anything bigger than 50 load boxes.

Since we’re on the topic of Persil…

Found these gems at my local European Grocer today.

They also had German Persil pods, in a 76 count bag…but I was not spending $40 for them!

^great find!

Local European/ Polish grocers sometimes have it, but it won’t necessarily be advertised, or online. If you can find a store like that, you just have to go explore and see what’s there.

I saw these in CT this week, but I went with the brand “E” from Henkel instead (good stuff so far!)

European Persil

There is a store in Linden, NJ that carries a lot of these products. It is located on 1025 W. St. Georges Ave., Linden, NJ Phone:908-583-5409. Open from 8am to 8pm. They also carry a lot of polish foods, noodles, pickles, condiments. Bein Polish American I go there frequently. Right before that on the same avenue is SYRENA Polish delicatessen. All home made food to take out. Loads of all European laundry detergents and household products.

What a neat store!

It’s called Biedronka, for those in the NJ/NY area. The detergent section alone was a feast for the eyes. I had to show remarkable restraint!

I’ve taken a picture of the section, as well as what I brought home.
