I love the way they named the stoves and appliances, Custom Imperial Cookmaster , custom Deluxe. Hell, what models below it would you even bother to look at?

Here's the Imperial Cookmaster, but look at our Custom, Deluxe IMPERIAL, dual-quad, full-blown, chopped, channelled, fuel-injected mutha-of-a- stove over here. Now do you really want anything else? :-)

Not By Choice, Perhaps, But.....

....Many, many people at the time had lower-end Frigidaire products, because the company was very aggressive in its pursuit of the builder's and apartment markets. Frigidaire units were found in many a late-'50s/early '60s apartment complex in my native Atlanta, always in color. One apartment would have yellow, and the one next to it would have turquoise, that sort of thing.

Frigidare was very good at imparting some glamour to their lower-end models, so anyone going into a new, Frigidaire-equipped apartment kitchen in, say, 1963, would have been very impressed.

My late Aunt Priscilla's first house had low-line Frigidaire appliances, like every other house in the newly-built (1968) subdivision. Wall oven, cooktop and fridge - all without a single bell or whistle - but hey, they were Avocado!

Nice lookin' 1960. A little chip on the front edge, but that shouldn't deter someone from picking this Custom Imperial. Oddly, 1960 and later TOL Frigidaires ranges seem to be hard to find due to the popularity of the Flair, which came out in '60.

Interesting info, Sandy. At least Frigidaire imparted some style or glamor to apartment appliances. Our apartment stove and frig are G.E. style-less, white monoliths that proudly champion "Profit at Any Cost". Anyways, color might be making a comeback in appliances(?).

This is a 1960 Custom Imperial model. The ad description says "Deluxe" but the TOL Custom Imperial model had many more "luxury" features than the Deluxe and it wasn't called Deluxe! (I have a 1960 Deluxe 30" range shown below). Cookmaster is simply the name of the timed oven control/clock/timer unit for every Frigidaire range that had one back then, it's not part of the model name.
Later, some models had "Meal Minders" instead but Frigidaire continued to use the name Cookmaster (in one or two words) for most of it's ranges.

On the 1960, it was spelled in a single word.

Here a later (1971) Deluxe model which shows "Automatic Cook Master"

PhilR: do you use the "Automatic Cook Master" feature and how does it work out for you, generally?

Also, does this model you own have the removable sides in the oven, to make cleaning easier?

Your stove came in colors, of course - what would you prefer, if anything, beyond white? Sorry for all the questions - came across the site below(you probably know it)...and..got questionitis... :-)

The 1960 Custom Imperial range does have a Pull-N-Clean oven, not removable sides.

Yes, I do use the Cookmaster for both oven cooking and cleaning (on newer self-cleaning models) and for the minute timer.
