Getting to know this stove

Is anyone knowledgeable of 50's Enterprise appliances? This stove was passed down to me by a friend who was going to throw it away, and I simply love it. I love it's fun proportions, red knobs, and general personality. It definitely has the wear and tear of a daily driver, but still works after a few recent repairs. I'm planning on using it in my kitchen renovation, coupled with a early 50's combination GE fridge. Maybe restoration, one day...

With that being said, can anyone tell me more about this stove? Or point me in the right direction? I have researched Enterprise stoves, but most Enterprise models that come up are much earlier. I have not found something similar at all. I would love to date it, or know more about it. I am hoping one day I will find another parts stove that can donate a few things. The center dial is slightly distorted from heat unfortunately. For now, I think I will get some of the chrome parts rechromed, in addition to a thorough cleaning...

Perhaps Hans will know something about this brand of range.

I'm thinking that the company was more known for making gas ranges. When the controls are on the front they are usually using the same cabinet for both gas and electric models.

It's a little rough looking, but should turn out nice after some clean-up.

I would say that stove definitely has potential!  Nice save - no reason to let a crusher have it's way with the stove.  Good luck with the process, and keep us updated.

I agree.   It's a beautiful little stove with lots of nice trim treatments.  Definitely worth saving.

 

And yeah, Hans (aka norgeway) is the most likely person to know the story behind this stove.

Enterprise

This was built in Nashville Tennessee by Phillips and Buttorff corporation, their was also a Enterprise range built in Canada...it IS possible it was one of those, If the Tennessee version, they were well known for making gas ranges, A cousin had a Enterprise electric built in wall oven and cooktop that baked wonderfully.

Hans- thank you! You know your stuff! My friend had used this stove while living in Montreal, so the Canada part makes total sense. Was it a separate company up there?

I have an Enterprise gas stove as well that is a Phillips and Buttorff. It is turquoise, of course The bottom door actually swings open to the right vs. pulling straight out.

Glad you are back in the area, Your range is Canadian built, and I assume that you remember bringing to our shop for repairs [ the picture you posted was taken in our shop ] After you picked it up and took it up to Canada did it ever get used ?

I know that I have a thermometer for your old GE combinations freezer door if you want it get in touch.

John- it has not gotten used much. And thank you! I would definitely like to take you up on that thermometer. Thank you so much for fixing it! I'll give you a call when I get back in town Monday. I'm hoping to pick up the fridge next weekend.
