I have finally finished the 1953 Bendix Duomatic that I got from John Lefever years ago. This machine needed a total redo. Its wiring had been tampered with, and of all things it had a 1/4hp motor in it. This motor was not intended to be used in this unit.Total strip, prime, auto paint. And a few pieces rechromed.New suspended assembly I learned during this restoration that this machine is one of the original design. This machines cabinet is 1" shorter in depth than those made after the serial number CCR-6725. I guess I never knew this. It seems that all the 53' Duomatics with the number CCR-6725 and before had green door handles, and those after had chrome handles. This is a very quiet machine. It work Great! I love these old Duomatics. I do not have any before pictures, but you can imagine what it looked like.
Take Care,
John

Beautiful machine! Now THATS what I call a restoration!
Congratulations on a job well done, and thank you for sharing the photos.

John, the machine is just beautiful! Like all of your restorations, they look better than factory new! So good to hear from you and thanks for sharing the photos. Congratulations on another fabulous classic F/L.

Beautiful work, John - as always! Thanks for sharing the pics with us, it's always good to hear from you.

My CCR is serial number 63275 and it still has the green door handle like yours, isn't that strange? It's interesting to hear some of changes in this design, there were many between 53 and 55.

Wow!! Congratulation! That's a new machine you restored! Better than new maybe! You've done a great job, I wish you a beautiful time using your new duomatic!

Gyromatic dear,

When may I come with my appliance dolly and pick up this machine? Remember, I only live 4hrs. away from you, so be on your guard, just kidding. Absolutely gorgeous!!!
