OK, I heard the political ad stating that Romney & Bain went to Global Appliances in China to have appliances made cheaper. No surprise there for any of us who can't find locally made stuff. But, I went to their website and found that in addition to irons and small hair dryer-type clothes dryers, about 2/3s of the way down the page, is the name Jinan Hitone and there was a washing machine and then the link to 22 similar models. I am curious about the brand names under which they are sold and the geographic distribution of the sales. So, my question to members all over the world: Do any of you recognize any of these washing machines?

Thank you.

Global Appliances changed their name to Global-Tech Inc. in 2008.

Royal and Electrolux/Eureka are their floor care appliance customers and Sunbeam small home appliances. I did some digging when the articles came out about Bain Capital investments in Global (GAI) but haven't found anything about the washing machines. Yet.

Sad, indeed.

We have a late 1940s Sunbeam toaster - the kind that slowly lowers the bread when you put in in the slots, and slowly raises it when the toast is done. It's really cool and I bet it weighs a good 5 lbs. Plus, the chrome job is so good you could use it as a shaving mirror.

Too bad the Sunbeam name gets plastered on disposable Chinese junk these days.

The front loading washing machine looks like a LG model...

The twin tub machine looks like it was handmade..

They are even putting the "Sunbeam" name on ironstone dinnerware, kinda like dumbed down farberware. alr
