I'm looking for a new shower head which is a small thing, but of course like everything else these days, there are millions of them out there and they cost a lot of money. I don't want fancy-schmancy; shower massages have always seemed like a lot of nonsense to me. What I'd like is a shower head that will spritz me with Oregonian downpours of water when I want it to, and then be easily adjustable down to little or no spray--that's how I conserve water. A shower that drizzles or mists on me really pisses me off.

Heh.

Mine is from a company called Interbath, and it is on a hose. I like it quite well. It was around 30.00 at Home Depot about 4 years ago. It's decently adjustable, and if I had better water pressure, it would be a great massager.

I really like my waterpik showerhead. It is a water saver, yet with its "Optiflow," has nice pressure and coverage. It was very reasonably priced, too.

I like the old school Alsons heads that send out a nice wide pattern from a rather compact head. The type where there's a pair of tiered bezel sort of things that you can remove for cleaning. I loved the one we had at our other house. I have found something similar at ACE, but not Alsons brand, for our current house, and it has a built-in shut-off near the head for adjusting the flow if desired. Their massage action is a joke, but I don't use that. I'm talking hand-held units that clip to the regular shower head pipe as well.

I like either Speakman showerheads or many of the showerheads by Grohe. All of our bathroom and kitchen fixtures are Grohe and we are very happy. More expensive but they stay looking great and last.

I have an Interbath "Rain (something)"... It is older and the printing on it has washed off. It is a smaller head but gives an excellent flow, neither blasts your skin off nor trickles. Very, very pleased with it for many, many years.

Back in college in the 80's, the dorm I lived in had Act-O-Matic shower heads from Sloan Valve Co. They had a very powerful stream and gave a really invigorating shower. I need to order one for my house today.

Whatever you do, do not get the real cheapies at Home Depot.  I did, and they are actually NOISY!  I will be checking this thread to see what I should get.

One thing I always do is pull the crappy reducers out of all the shower heads, that way I get a good flow. When I used to be on the road a lot I did the same in the hotels I stayed in, hate a trickle shower, give me close to skin stripping pressure any day.

I too, like the "firehose" pressure shower heads-hate those water saver "sprinkle-watering can" ones.Take out the water saver washer-or in some cases-drill out the water opening for more flow.I would drive former apartment house operators crazy-later with them-learned to save the little washer-put it back when they wanted to inspect the showerheads.then took it out when they were done.
