So.. I switched jobs. Now I'm working at a local appliance/furniture store.

We sell pretty much everything under the sun. I'm paid a comparable wage but I'm also paid commissions.

I finally have access to buying most brands at cost. :-) I'm totally gonna go broke working here...

The new black stainless from KitchenAid... That fridge is sexy. If it comes out in a side by side, I'm gonna buy one... Otherwise I may buy an LG SXS with Door-in-door.

Also, getting to demo a samsung waterwall dishwasher to see how much I'd hate it :-D

This should be pretty exciting! :-)

Save your dimes and nickels, Joshua! It's my understanding the Samsung water wall machine cleans well; it's just repair-prone. Haven't heard of KitchenAid's black stainless steel. Will have to check it out at their website.

Congratulations and have fun on the new job.

Joshua, congratulations!! I thinkj the Black Stainless KA fridge looks very sexy, regardless of what configuration it comes in. wish they'd do a black stainless electric range, but so far, they only have gas.

I should rephrase the thing about the samsung dishwasher.

They had 4 demo units sent to them, the ones with the LCD panel in the door. He used two of them and two of them are sitting around collecting dust. The owner is giving me one to play with :-)

Thanks for the notes! Its gonna be pretty interesting I think.

I wanna get mom a GE laundry pair, buy grandma a new fridge and a futon for my place.

Service was saying the LG and Samsung products had codes available to increase water usage, cycle options etc. I'll post them as soon as I get a list.

Oh, I am thinking I'm gonna take a samsung laundry pair home to see if I'll like it so I can sell it. Take it home for a few weeks, use it and take it back... Thats gonna be a fun perk :-)

Waterwall Dishwasher

A co-worker bought one and is very happy with it. He bought his without the third upper rack because he was worried about his tall glasses, etc. I told him to take them along when he shopped but of course he did not.

He said he loves the machine but the extended cycle is 3 hours!!! Now I think that's a little ridiculous if you ask me. How is it that these things save resources if they run that long?

The motors/pumps are small and very energy efficient so the machines use little electricity despite long cycles. On my GE 750, the Heavy cycle + Sanitize option = 3:28 cycle time. The normal cycle runs 1:51. I often use Normal without the heated was boost which brings it down to 1:15. The new enzyme-intensive detergents clean very well at lower temps.

There's no getting around it. Cycle times are long compared to vintage machines.
