Good Way To Clean A Vacuum Hose?

I'm trying to figure what would be a good cleaner to use on the vacuum hose of my Hoover Celebrity. I used my Method cleaner on the rest of the vacuum and it has come out sparkling, but the Method isn't doing so well on the hose. It would probably take me about an hour or two to clean the hose with Method.

Any suggestions?

It took me 10 hrs. and a bottle of wine to clean 30 chrome knobs. Count your blessings! LOL!

You're just cleaning the outside right? I always use ajax cleanser in a damp towel. It cleans the dirt right off. My friends are just horrified that i use ajax but it works. Then to make the hose shine i use McGuires cleaning wax. Apply it on and rub it right off to a shine. One friend of mine uses McGuires alone but it takes forever. The ajax cleans the major dirt off right away.

Soap, water, and a good scrubbin' here...

I usually put the hose in a utility tub, let it soak in HOT water for a while, then douse a scrub-brush with dish soap, and scrub the hose.. Sometimes I'll use Simple Green. I rinse the house out thoroughly, and when I'm done, if it's nice outside, let it air dry. Or once it's started to dry, hook it up to the exhaust of the cleaner, and let the warm motor air run through it (do it near a drain, as the water that comes out of the hose can tend to be mucky and gross).

(I only do this with newer plastic/steel wire reinforced hoses or crushproof hoses... not anything cloth, or containing electrical wires of any sort).

I've cleaned Constellation and Celebrity non-electric hoses, and they come out beautifully!

I put the hose of my Electrolux in the upper rack of the dishwasher, with no other item in the load. Comes out sparkling clean!

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go later this week and see what happens.

I was willing to spend the time it took to clean it with Method if I had to, but I was really hoping for a quicker alternative. Hopefully I found it!

Caution!!don't think you want to soak electric vacuum cleaner hoses in a tank of water-those intended for powernozzles.This would be fine for non electric hoses though.
