First off, I had to say goodbye to my faithfull Refrigerator, the MZD2768GEW. It served me well and I'm going to miss those ClimateZone crispers something fierce but it wasn't worth the compressor replacement. Sucks too, as the Galesburg built Maytags usually were bulletproof as far as the sealed systems went. Leave it to me...

Sooo, out with the old, in with the new. I got the JennAir JSD2697KEY with the black floating glass front with the 'Euro' style handles. It'll match my stove better anyway. Got a good price too, but that's a perk of working at a shop that's a dealer...

The fresh food side has nice features. The chill compartment will keep my milk ice cold! This also has two elevator shelves where my old only came with one.

The crispers are automatic humidity control and also slide out on ball bearing tracks. The dispenser is huge and a nice feature is the 'Express Fill' button. I can fill sport bottles with the filtered water simply by touching that button on the front instead of snaking my hand around the back to hit the pad...

The controls are upfront and easy to handle. Instead of numbers, I can actually set a temperature and it will display current temp at a glance. Three thermisters allow accurate temperature management. I think I'll get to like this one. Time will tell. It has some pretty big shoes to fill.

Looks, nice, but I thought Whirlpool had transitioned all their products to ice storage in the door.

A couple of years ago I got a TOL Whirlpool and I got to say I love it. The only thing I'd change is the ice and water. I got mine the year before they added the quick fill for bottles and coffee pots, takes about a minute to fill the coffee pot. I've got folding glass shelves in the freezer with 3 pull out baskets and the tip out baskets in the door, very flexible.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your new fridge, it's great looking!

that looks very similar to my fridge, which was one of the last maytag designs left, i even have the same beverage chiller. the bf made me pay eaxtra b cuz he wanted the option lol

Yup! That's a Amana design refrig just like mine. They were going to discontinue my model, possibly to introduce more of a Whirlpool influenced design. Yet another reason I got this model...

Everything SxS I see in the stores around here lately is all Whirlpool design. Even the Amana product. So I'm guessing the Amana design is on it's way out. The Whirlpool design is pretty good i just don't like the look as much with the big grill on the bottom and the water filter access in the grill. That Jenn-Air is a beauty with the clean look of the glass front and the simple full legnth ss handles. Ed

Nice new fridge! I hope to hell it doesn't have the problems my side by side GE has given me. I'm going vintage when this 3rd POS GE fridge finally dies as it's out of warranty now.

Andrew and Toploader1984: Both are beautiful refrigerators!

Andrew, I think you should celebrate by putting a nice bottle of white wine on that wine rack to chill.

I do love modern refrigerators. Very energy efficient and loaded with luxuries.

The interior of my GE Profile Arctica is very similar. The freezer section is almost identical. The refrigerator section has a Custom Cool drawer. Settings for ExpressChill (15, 30, 45 mins), SelectTemp (Citrus 43°F, Produce 35°F, Meat 30°F), and ExpressThaw (0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 lbs).

I feel your pain, Andrew. It's sad to get rid of an old faithful refrigerator.
We had a mid 80's Amana SxS that served us proudly for years. But, foolishly, we let it go. It kept freezing the drain tube, even though I replaced the heater, and checked everything else out. And my wife had a chance to get a 2 YO GE from where she worked. So out with the old, in with the newer.
That GE lasted about 2 years, and it started screwing up. So it went about 5 years ago, in favor of a new Whirlpool SxS, which has been bulletproof.
I'll bet that old Amana is still going, somewhere.....

Installed and purring...

Thanks, all. Actually, yes a bottle of white wine DID go into the holder. It's quiet, the ice maker produces quickly and the water flow rate at the dispenser is faster than the old. Here's to the future...

I love the new black refrigerators - Although I bought mine 2 years ago - I still have the last 2 my mom bought over the years.

In 1961 my mom bought a small pink g-e frige .

In 1971 she bought a whirlpool avocado Frige .

Both units although look like new are retired now & are in my collection - When my black one dies it will join the other 2 -I love this stuff & just can`t see taking it to a landfill.

If it werent for people like us there would be no vintage appliances to collect.
