What a fabulous find! I love those!!! I just bought a set of Taylor Smith Taylor "Cathay"...the same design except mine have olive green in place of the brown on yours. The shape is a bit different too...yours have a more coupe shape than Cathay.
What I really like is that the pattern is on the outside edge of the china rather than the center. I looked for a long time for vintage china, and so many great designs were placed in the center of the plate, so they ended up getting cut marks from knives over the years. Having the design on the edge is much better.
I am slightly jello of the fact that you got a coffee pot, but I was able to find a salt shaker, 2 creamers, and a gravy boat, so there!!
(ok, I will also admit that I paid 4x as much for my set, since I bought pieces on ebay & etsy + shipping....)
The dishes are incredible and so are you. I am so pleased for the good fortune you have in collecting. It is so cool you actually put so much effort into using and displaying the collection and better yet in sharing it all with us. They are truly great.
Aren't thrift stores great for finding such things?!? Last year I had similar luck finding another service for 8 to match the pattern we inherited from my grandmother. I paid $42.20 w/tax. I've included a link to our pattern below. Grandma originally bought her set at K-Mart here in Wausau. Unfortunately though, I don't have any salt & pepper shakers, coffee or tea pots, gravy boats, or oval serving platters. I do have 2 nice round chop platters, 2 creamers & sugar bowls, lots of dinner plates, soup plates, and serving bowls.
