Hi all, I'm very curious to find out more about the Slovenian brand Gorenje. I just love the look of their current models, they look really stylish. I especially love the flagship model with the touchscreen control panel and 2000RPM spin. It'll catch on in the UK if the model range was expanded and more shops sold them, it could be a really big hit here lol!

But there's many questions about the brand which remain unanswered like: When was the company first established? When did they produce their first washing machine? What designs did they use? When was their first computer-controlled washing machine introduced? and so on.

It'll be a really fascinating insight into the brand and I only want to go to Slovenia because of it!

More info on some models would be helpful and a few things about them would be good too!

So to kick start the thread, here's a pic of the touchscreen model.

Nice isn't it?!

Yes, it is very interesting, never seen a real machine but they seem to be sturdy and full featured. The onlythings I can tell you is that one of their designers is Pininfarina and at times they produced mechanical for SMEG refrigerators.

Hi

Someones got some great videos of a TOL Gorenje (2000rpm) on their youtube account..

I don't know if they're a member on here...

But the videos are brilliant

Hmm. I,ve had an Gorenje Washing machine a few years ago. Sadly it broke after 2 and a half years use. It smelled burned and blowed the fuses.

What exactly this happened i dont know, but i belive something in the motor broke.

Here´s a pic of the machine i had.

Fredericksam, that machine you had was the machine my Nana replaced her 1992 Philco with in Aug 2000 - did a good job cleaning, very quiet, used the right amount of water and had a weird spin sequence but as fun as it was to watch the spin it was a bit too dragged out with the pauses and re distributions and speed varying. Not to mention spinning both ways in turn! I believe its still going, not been to the house since Nana passed to see my Grandad but before Nana died it was stuffering Timer issues. It occasionally sticks on cotton rinse and needs the odd nudge. It was badged a Belling WashWISE 1100 Here. Looks a well built machine on the outside for todays standards. I have seen the new BOL Gorenges and frankly they are awful! Ok the plastic porthole on the washer is reminiscent of a Hotpoint Liberator but its in a cheap wobbly plastic frame. The machine control panel is lightweight plastic and looks tacky. The drum lifters look flimsy and look as though the wouldnt tumble washing well. I doubt I will ever see this 2000rpm version soon but I hope they are less plasticky than its cheaper cousins. Rob

Liking the comments so far, keep them coming! Remember, this thread is about Gorenje washing machines, past and present and the brand in general.

Any interesting machines or facts would be great!

Go on the website

I went on the site and put my details in..... a week or 2 later I recieved two brochures... quite informative.!

Youtube...

I was watching these videos on Youtube too and I noticed a rough noise when the guy unloaded the washer and run the drum by hand to see if it´s empty.

Is this typical to Gorenje-machines or are the drum bearings gonig to be broken?

Does anybody know?

BTW: A real fascinating machines with an awful amount of extra-features.
Even the soap-dispenser opens and shuts itself.
