So I got this hoover Concept today....(yes, my dad said I didn't have to put vacs into storage. I convinced him!)

Can anyone place a date to it?

Its close to one I have wanted for a while. Its a white and green one. Green and white striped bag. No power drive. Cord winder, and a white painted handle. (green grip- 2 speed motor)

Im still cleaning it up so no pictures yet!

So worth the $10. Its so quiet running.

A-three!

Didn't spend much time detailing the bottom as you can see.

The brush-rolls bristles aren't the greatest.

About 1984/5.....I have a Concept 2 with power drive and the handvac....still runs top dollar.....I love how, with new bristles, there is only one wide stripe it leaves as you vacuum, no center slot in the middle of the brush strokes......and the right hand side edge cleaning is great.....

a steal at $10.00

Brandon that is a real beauty!!  I love the color!  Great find!  I keep saying I just can't bring home anymore Hoover uprights but I do believe I would have to make an exception for one like that.  Looks to be in fantastic shape too!

thanks all!

I grabbed it because it was so clean. Had paint scuffs, but no real scratches on the base or anything. Still needs some detailing, but its very very clean overall.

They have another exactly identical one there. Its got more scuffs though. Was a tad louder too. A powermax too from the 90s. Like a concept with onboard attachments.

Brandom, that model was produced from 1979-1986, but I'm going to take a guess that yours came from the last few years of the run, say 84-86.

Very nice find BTW. I just love my Concepts and Concept two, nothing in my opinion can clean and groom a deep pile rug better.

As a teenager I used to work part time at Best Products (catolog showroom) store where they could not keep Concepts in stock they were very popular in the 80's. The only problem with Concepts was the weight.

In the Hoover paperwork it was interesting to see that only certain stores sold certain colors at one point, the most common color sold to almost every store was the light blue. I actually purchased two with my discount while I worked there one TOL, blue, power drive, chrome/stainless handle?, retrc cord, and all attachments. Other was a great deal at the end of the run, light blue, power drive, wrap cord, and painted handle (still have this one).

Only thing I do not like about them is in tight spaces and having to adjust the power drive so it does not get out of control and bang up the furniture.

I do agree nothing grooms a carpet like a Concept.

I got mine brand new in box on clearance for 79.00 in 1985.....

from SEW n' VAC....the salesman was trying to push/sell the metal base traditional Hoover.....was claiming the Concepts were plastic and cheaply made, and what would break first....the worst vacuum Hoover ever made....he tried to talk me out of it....

I did not care, I liked it and had to have it, and still do, but more of a show piece, my main drivers are Windtunnels, and I have 2 Fantoms, which actually do a very nice job...

due to that problem with the brushroll and brush strips being NLA worries me, I have 4 of 5 Concepts equipped with new brush strips and I have 6 sets on stock and ready to order 2 or 3 more sets as I gradually stock pile

I'll bet you could find some if you hit the older vacuum parts houses....

anything online may be NLA......but these places have some left in stock

I better get a set or 2 for myself, I have a few places to check around here, If I find any, I will let you know....

I got my Singer fixed at one place, who also does vacuums, parts were NLA, but he had them and serviced it for me too!...worth a shot

this link is to a guy in Dover, Delaware....he will mail the parts to you....can't hurt to try

got the last one...........I stopped by another sew n' vac type store.....all they had for 30.00 was the entire beater bar, brand new, end pieces, bearings, brushes and all, fully assembled......a little more than I wanted to spend, but I couldn't say no to the whole package.....

Nice!

For parts I usually will just go with the local stores. There are 15 that I can name off the top of my head in omaha/CB iowa, quite close.

I also set a rule to myself that if O'dowd's vacuum stores cant find the parts, they probably aren't out there. :)
