Bought a new Maytag MVWP575GW. Receieved the machine from the independent Appliance dealer last Tuesday. Ran a couple of loads.

The water level you see in the picture is the highest it will go. That pic was taken last week, it was the 2nd load for the new machine.

I have it on the deep wash cycle and Hot water, but also tried with Warm water.

Shouldn't the water level go all the way to the top of the metal drum ?

That's right where it should be on the deep water fill, right above the last set of holes in the tub before you get to that double row at the very top. I have seen some of those washers that wouldn't fill all the way up until you put them into service mode and ran them through a calibration cycle then they would start filling correctly.

Tub Cover Damage

The machine has had something way too large washed in it that scraped on the tub cover durning. the spin cycle.

I am sure the comforter or what ever sustained some damage as well.

Top Load washers are not generally suitable for washing baulky bedding, pillows etc, don't believe claims to the contrary, you really need a full sized FL washer to wash large things at home or take them to a large FL machine at a laundromat.

Are you referring to this damage, where the tub's plastic top lining is abraided and ripped a little ?

That was there from new. I didn't want to make a fuss about it, because it is just cosmetic.

What you see in the picture is my comforter (a sinlge, and not that fluffy). My previous machine, a Whirlpool triple action agitator, would fully emmerse it in water.

They had to special order it, took about 2 weeks. And came in the factory box with packing. They cut opened the box when they brought it to my home.

I have run into a few tub covers on brand new machines that look like that, especially recent ones. I don't think Whirlpool is doing too good of a job finishing the edges, leaving them rough where they get pressed or however they form those.
