I am no expert on Electrolux, but I want to say the earlier models were about 6amps(720 watts) and the later models would be 9-10 amps, 12 with the powernozzle.
"pinky" would be a 1950's GE Swiveltop, Fred has a couple different GE's so there will never be a "drag around tragedy" in his house

HOWEVER my Royal Doulton with the hand-painted periwinkles was in the shop, so we used my 1960's vintage "Star Glow" instead.

Who could ever forget Dawn from "Female Trouble", my absolute favorite John Waters film?

I met John on a flight about 10 years ago and had a great converstation with him about his films. At that time, he told me Mink Stole was selling real estate in LA. I was based in SFO at the time and the next day, low and behold, I see John walking up Castro Street right in front of the Castro Theater!

Dawn reminds me of one of our vac collectors that shall remain nameless. And, I have dubbed several vac friends with names from various Water's films and also from, "Girls Will Be Girls", which we screened Saturday night at Fred's house.

Ahhh, the vacuum group..........what a crowd!
 
I'm sure I saw Mink Stole in some tv show or movie recently, but I'm stumped at the moment. Edith Massey was probably one of my favorites in those movies. You wonder how they find these people.. LOL

Right out in class!!! One time I was in the Badlands on
18th Street in the "Stro" and Harris Glenn strolled in wearing
this wonderful pale lime green soft cotton looking jammy
get up with great dangling earrings; he surveyed the scene
with unutterble disdain. Another time I saw Edith shoomzing in the lower window of the "Twin Peaks" (or "Glass Coffin" as we smart ass little "clones" referred to it) Not too long after she died. (Oh! Gator, Gator, Gator.... ohhh!!!) I can't recall the name of the club on Haight, it got real popular
for its Sunday afternoon "Tea Dances" in the eighties. Divine
did her show there, about the time she released her "picture
records", It was a scream. By the second show she was "Peaking" Not unlike her performance in "Female 'Who wants to die for art' Trouble" ! I do hope to someday visit "Mortville" !
 
SFO memories

The tea dance dance hall was the, "I-Beam" and we called the Twin Peaks the "Glass Casket"! One day when I stopped in for a drinkie-poo, I spotted Myles Long and remembered him well for his feats on film.

And Veg, you are right! I was also based in BWI in years gone by and on any given day you could do a walk around Fell's Point and spot an entire John Water's cast.

It is true that Birtman Electric did make vacuum cleaners for Sears. Whirlpool decided they wanted to add vacuum cleaners to their line, so Birtman Electric merged with Whirlpool in 1957. Later, Whirlpool started making vacuum cleaners under their own name, as well as Sears. They discontinued their line only to bring it back again. Do you remember those Whirlpool vacuum cleaner commercials from the early 80's? Around the late 80's, Whirlpool discontinued their line again to only make the Kenmore line.

1990 was the year Whirlpool decided they should start their exit from making Kenmore vacuum cleaners and focus on major appliances, so they created a partnership with Panasonic. Matsushita(Panasonic) would own majority interest. In 1994, Panasonic acquired complete ownership of the floorcare division.
 
A co inkydink today.. I'm at the thrift store and find the power mate for those 76 or 77 kenmore,, but the vac wasn't there... I grabbed it just in case anyone needs it, without the vac I don't know if it works but it doesn't look beat up or much used at all.... letme know.
 
Whirlpool vacuums

Every now and again I run across a Whirlpool upright from the middle 80's, the ones that look like a Concept One.
They were also made for Sears, one of which I do have.
Also had one of their canisters, they were fun machines

The story I heard about the Kenmore/Whirlpool vacuum venture in the 60's is that Sears politely suggested that Whirlpool stop making vacuums for themselves and focus on the Kenmore brand.
Whirlpool agreed, and the rest is history I guess.
