I recently found a great new liquid laundry detergent for bath towels.
In general these towels don't get dirty enough to need a strong detergent. But they do need to be fresh and clean. Over the years I've tried a number of detergents, and found that in general the milder liquids tend to leave the towels the softest.
I picked up a jug of a new brand the other week, and have found that it's the best yet to preserve towel softness, without the need for fabric softener (which can impede water absorption).
It's called:
Green Shield Organic Laundry Detergent. It comes in two flavors: lightly scented (lavender), and free and clear. Both are rated HE and triple strength. So far I've tried the lavender version (Costco was temporarily out of the free and clear version) but I recently picked up a jug of the latter to try in future. I expect it will perform similarly.
The ingredient list is most interesting:
Water, Cocos Nucifera (Saponified Organic Coconut Oil), Sapindus Mukarossi (Organic Soap Nuts), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder (Organic Aloe Vera), Sea Salt, Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Cyanopsis Tetragonoloba Gum (Organic Guar Gum), Acacia Senegal Gum (Organic Acacia Gum), Xantham Gum, Quillaja Saponaria (Organic Soap Bark), Organic Fragrancs.
I have found it to be low sudsing. I have not tried it on whites; just on dark blue bath towels, which will be its primary use.
