I have a Norelco razor like the one in your picture--I will just have to find it-its been thru several moves-still works as far as I know.It was one of the first Norelcos I bought to replace a Sunbeam Shavemaster.Loved the Sunbeams-too bad they aren't made anymore.they were very nice and did a great job.I have just about all of the older razors I have used except the sunbeams.Now I wished I kept them.I also have a Schick that someone gave me-needs new blades.It does have quite a heft to it.No lightweight plastic in that one.Its a plug in model.For a long time I used only plug in ones-Now I have gone to rechargeables.If the Norelco razor is "pulling" its telling you that the blades are dull-replace them and it should cut like new.Norelco sells head and blade kits for their shavers.I used to get them at K-Mart of all places.-Their jewlry dept.
thats true-lots of hospitals and Dentists are going to GE equipment-there was one hospital and dentist office I went to that had Norelco-Philips X-Ray machines.GE seems to be the prominent one now.
 
Austin, that's my Rototract as well. I got it as a gift must have been in the late 70's and used up until about a year ago when the batteries finally wore out, I went thru maybe 3 sets of batteries in all those years. It was the best design I think, easier to hold than the newer ones.
 
Shavers

I actually have a Philishave electric razor and I hate the darn thing - can never get a close shave and it always brings me out in quite a severe shaving rash. But that still hasn't let me pluck up the courage to start wet-shaving! (I have a phobia of razors, but that is another story).

Lotion dispensors

Those Norelco's actually dispense Novocain right before they pull the hair right out of you chin, otherwise causing alot of pain.
 
With any electric razor (or is it shaver?) you have to use them regularly for at least a couple of weeks until you, your skin, gets used to them. With the rotary shavers you have to shave in a circular motion as well, not up and down, for best results.
 
This week was announced that the name Philishave is definitely history. The shavers now all will be sold under the Philips label. They are still manufactured in the Netherlands, in Drachten, a town not so far away from Groningen. I thought they had moved the production to China, but that's not true (yet?). The first Philishave was introduced in 1939 and until now they made 470.000.000 shavers. There is a Philishave collectors club
