[This is a spoof on a big-city couple that goes to the back-woods farm-country to become farmers. Mrs. Douglas (as the farmer's wife) is played by a very be-jeweled Eva Gabor, dahlink].

Caught an epsiode last night that began with Mrs. Ziffel (the neighbor) doing her wash in Mrs. Douglas' PANK Maytag combo. She was not too happy with the new rock Mr. Ziffel was kind enought to put by the creak.

Sure enough, Arnold was watching the Maytag as it was drying thinking it was a television. (Should I mention Arnold is a piglet?) The eposide goes on to see what the Ziffels buy as a machine from the eccentric entrepreneur, Mr. Haney (read: crooked and shady). It was an outboard boting motor in an industrial drum A laugh-riot it was!

Anyhoo.....

as the ex and I were watching as they referred to what we would call a wash-in as a wash-out party. The neighbor brought her laundry. LOL

WE WERE ROARING! LOL

I love shows that establish their own unique sense of reality.

My favorite episode of Green Acres had Lisa Douglas trying to create a measuring cup by pulling coffee cups from her toploading dishwasher and smashing them against the edge of the machine. "No, that's 3/4 of a cup." (Smashes another cup) "No, that's 1/3 of a cup." (Smashes another cup), etc.

Does anyone remember the one where Oliver was trying to teach Lisa how to drive, and she keeps referring to the "Pirendel"?

Finally, Oliver, exasperated, demands to know what a "Pirendel" is, and she's like, "you know, the shift thing, P-R-N-D-L...."

Haven't thought of that in years.

Yes, I do remember that one. It is SUCH a trippy show. The whole treating-the-pig-like-a-son shtick was wonderful, too. Climbing the pole to answer the phone; making sure all the plugged-in appliances didn't add up to more than 7; the sliding bedroom closet door that would fly off the track (exposing the outdoors, no less);

I'm guessing the show's writers were not unfamiliar with a bong, LOL.

Now I'm wanting to get all the Green Acres DVD sets. I picked up Bewitched Season 1 recently (1st disc watch glitched, had to exchange it). I'm thinking Green Acres would actually be more fun.

Our own private Hooterville...

Until WWII, Our neighborhood was mostly Japanese and Italian truck farms for the Pike Place Market. As such, some of our rural roots remain (Like the time a guy told us that a chicken had just got hit by a car down on the corner, but the body was still warm for plucking).

Since I lived in the neighborhood before we bought our current house, I am much more used to some of the "urban rustics" than John, so when I want to get his goat I do my best (and it's not bad) Lisa accent, and call him "Ah-li-ver"

I want to see it, I want to see it!!

Did ya record it? haa, did ya?

Now I have watched Green Acres (hello, who hasn't?) it was funny, I guess. But I am wondering what you were smoking or drinking that made it so "ROARING!"

Now this show was like the early 60's. You have to wonder back then, when there were homes still without bathrooms, if people really understood some of the concepts. (sliding door falling off, the multiple plugs in the kitchen, etc.) I mean that show was probly rather hip back then.

Still I miss that innocence, I never thought I would say that.

But she couldn't...

run the washer and the refrigerator at the same time! Remember? The generator only had enough power to operate appliances that added up to a 7 load ("it's all based on the principle of 7"). Lisa would invariably plug in a "3" while a "5" or "6" was already plugged in, blowing the generator. I think the electric razor was a "1." Great running gag!

Lisa Dry Cleaned Olivers suit in the Dishwasher..

Did you see that one? He asked if she got his suit cleaned and she said yes. He asked where it was and she said in the dishwasher. He opened the pink mobile maid and pulled the suit out. She said she dry cleaned it by not turning on the water.

I like watching "Mama's Family" which is on after Green Acres. The original dysfunctional family.
