Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I'd say they're about 15 or 20 years too new to be considered "Midcentury Modern." That term is being used way too loosely these days by people looking to cash in.

I think they are 71s or older. (My thought is 1971 models, but maybe 1970). In '72 the washer lid handles disappeared in favor of the indented notches, and the dryer door handles changed to plastic (this one has a chromed metal handle). Even carry-over 1971, 1970 and 1969 models were revised to the new handle styles in 1972.

Well, they ain't the 50's ish Frigidaire you covet,
but if they were in my neck of the woods for that price,
I would be inclined to snatch them up. A nice matched set,
still possessing console style and design elements that at
least yell, if not scream, "We are fancy looking! ; and will wash and dry your items superbly." How could you resist all
that Avocado?

My Grandmother have that washer in white. That washer was delivery to her house the day after my Father pass way in Sept. 1970. It was a 2 speed machine.

Any Knot's Landing Fans

Aren't these the machines that Karen Fairgate-Mackenzie had in her laundry room on the show. If I remember they were avacodo as well! I love those kenmores from the early 70's. I believe these were lighted dial machines!

Yes that is exactly the pair she had. Each machine was heard running in two different episodes very late in the series. In fact the episode the washer was run was during the last season, and a very short scene was filmed inside the laundry room, but only for a few seconds. I wish there had been more episodes with them running.

Have a good one,

Headed for the DVD's

Thanks James,
Now I'm going to have to pull out the box set and check out the final season. I did not remember that but will check it out!

1970 KENMORE PAIR

Thats the same pair we added to our collection back in January this year. It was a very neat design that only lasting a year or so, it had about a six " diameter timer dial behind the control panel where only part of the dial was visible through a window at the top. The dials were back lit with an incandescent bulb and the washer had a small red indicator light above the dial that would light as you turned the dial to indicate the starting position of each lettered cycle A B C E F G etc. A very good high quality pair thats a great performer thats already 40 years old hope some one here gets them I know we are holding to the ones we have.

I wish I could remember the episode title to abbreviate your search. If you remember the storyline from that last season, it is the episode where Mack McKenzie (Karen's husband) is arrested at the end of it for the murder of a woman that had been harrassing the family.
