Grundig are here!

OK, just an update. We have the Grundig's finally in our store and I was so excited as I saw them come in on the delivery. I was even lucky enough today to unbox them! We also had a pleasant Beko lady, the Grundig's are not officially launched until the 21st, we have them early and exclusively. The fridge freezer is handsome looking (white with silver accents), with the touch sensors on and display on the front, they also do the same model in stainless steel. Inside it has active fan cooling, 2 drawers in the fridge (1 being controlled). The boxes are frosted with subtle graphics. Inside the fridge, it's very Miele looking in appearance, with glass shelves and silver metallic trims. The fridge also has LED lighting strips running the whole length on either side. Needless to say, it is also frost free. The dishwasher also looks smart, with blue and grey accents inside. The baskets have a steel handle and there's also a cutlery tray right up top. Again it features touch controls and a LED display on the front and also features an automatic programme. It feels rather well made, the door has a satisfying soft clunk when being closed, and has auto open to aid with drying, again both like Miele. The washing machines are seriously smart, with the same silver and black theme running on. The doors are enormous, and open 180 degrees, they're also chrome finish, again similar to a Miele. We have a 9kg and an 8kg in store. The 9kg has steam refresh, Multisense technology and also a large LED display. Both machines have a 'chevron' patterned drum with many small holes. The rep is getting us to have one of these electrically live for us to demonstrate. Both the dishwasher and the washing machines feature an anti leak inlet hose and all of the appliances feature a 5 year guarantee as standard. They all achieve the highest possible energy efficiency classes, the dishwasher uses only 6 litres of water! All in all, I am pleasantly surprised and rather impressed (not easily and often done I may add), they feel well made, considering that they are essentially glorified Beko's. They are definitely competition for AEG and in my opinion, I actually think they're ahead of Bosch's current crop, but of course it goes without saying that, they're no competition for Miele though!

They certainly look great, but only time will tell, if they do last - I certainly hope they've brushless motors? Touch buttons are great, and programme choice seems pretty decent.

I certainly love the chrome door, and control panel, shame there's no Vented dryer, why are manufacturers these days so intent on removing Vented dryers? They're still the most common type in almost every household?

Sure this is been bought up before - are they Beko or Vestel in Origin?

Will have to go Curry's - seems the only place that sell these - and see them in real life.

It does look better than Bosch - but still think I prefer Siemens design to this, and the new Bosch WAY28790GB design. I'm impressed its not got a black plastic over the door glass - that really annoys me.

They are Arcelik machines - so same as Beko and Blomberg. I have to say that the current crop of Arcelik dryers in particular look very similar to recent ranges of BSH dryers, with similar designs of drum, air flow etc.

I suspect vented dryers are being phased out a bit because of energy regulations. You cannot have a vented heat pump dryer, and those are the most economical type. Even more traditional condensers seem to be more energy efficient than vented ones, if not by as much.

Saw them myself at the Currys Megastore in Bristol this weekend; have to say they are very well built - the chrome touches are nice.  The top of the range model has a jet system, and little touches such as lines around the drawer to measure powder.  The doors aren't too offensive in person either, not any more so than a Bosch or AEG.

 

Beko are one to watch, we have several Beko appliances and there are more in the family and I'm nothing but impressed with the value for money they deliver.  They are no worse built than what Bosch are putting out there at the moment.  One of the few brands nowadays that offer good quality at reasonable prices.  Our new dryer is as quick and as quiet as the Miele dryer it replaced; and actually dries everything without leaving damp patches - for £189 I really cannot fault it.

Have you seen the dishwasher? It washes the filter with a little sprinkler down in the sump. Neat!
